Sept. 3rd Autocross
(Thanks for the pictures)
Run 1 - DNF - Still don't know where I went off course...
Run 2 - DNF - Kind of know where I jammed up...
Run 3 - 45.648 - Ok, think I got this figured out...
Run 4 - DNF - NOT!!!
All in all we all really had fun...but...the second outing for Oahu's Autocross at Aloha Stadium was totally BAD for me. 3 OUT OF 4 RUN DNF!!! It all stemmed from me NOT following my own advice to take the second half of the course slow and use the white chalklines as guides, since it was very tight!
As a result, I absolutely shaved off all the outside edges of my two front tires by using what I would call my "plow brakes" the worst plowing ever since I started racing. You know...when you absouoltely cannot make the turn but have no choice but to keep on turning else you'll hit the cones...then you just end up plowing to almost a stop...until you scrub enough speed to finally make the turn. It was definely a cerebral course and and not so much of a "balls" course...and it shows I didn't use my brains on 3 runs!!!
A GREAT Excuse: On a side note, I found this autocross site (Boston BMW Club Classification) where they PAX all the BMW cars based on model. My 325it w/ auto is PAX'd as one of the SLOWEST Bimmers with 4 wheels!!! (And they don't even diffentiate between the sport package wagon and the non sp wagon.) No wonder I have such a tough time...it's the car!!!
Check out the differnce between my non-sport package auto wagon and a 325i stick w/ sport package. For me to compete with that car on a level playing field, i would be allowed to do ALL KINDS of mods to my car, where each new mod adds PAX adjustment points to your vehicle.
2001 325iA Wagon 32.4 pts.
2001 325i 4 Dr. w/ Sportpackage 71.0 pts.
Well...so much for the excuses...if I drove the course better, I probably could have taken off maybe 1/2 second or so...
The Br-other Drivers: My older younger brother decided to run his Mazda 6 wagon and did OK for his first time autocrossing in a very a long time. He DNF'd a couple times too but did manage to pull a decent 48 second run on the difficult to read cone city course. A lot different from the rwd '72 Corolla w/ dual Mikuni 40's he used to run back in the day...
(Thanks for the pictures)
My younger younger brother pulled a 44 and change in his Eunos...pretty disappointed as he KNEW he could have gone at least a couple of seconds faster...but...he'll have to wait...due to circumstances...a while...
